Toronto Fashion Week Spring 2013 Street Style: 20 shots of varsity jackets, faux fur and a Nirvana T-shirt outside the shows | Hollywood yohana

Toronto Fashion Week Spring 2013

Toronto Fashion Week(s) Spring 2013 is in full swing and the first two batches of street style photos from Stefania Yarhi are just the appetizer to the main course, which will kick off on Monday at David Pecault Square.
There may be no Anna Dello Russo, Miroslava Duma, or Taylor Tomasi Hill running about the city, but that’s not to say our very own Toronto natives aren’t just as stylin’. Since it’s nearing the end of October, it’s getting cold outside (it’s Canada!) so show goers have taken a liking to wearing layers outside the shows and refuse to take them off even when inside. The varsity jacket and motorcycle jacket has become a go-to piece seen on multiple girls about town.

Cedric Gasaida, singer for Azari & III, remixed and matched five prints together to create a mishmash of colours (topping it off with a leopard print turban) while another girl did the opposite in a completely monochromatic look in white. The graphic tee has made the transition from fashion month to Toronto and a Nirvana skeleton shirt was matched with a yellow blazer and black choker.
We’re feeling pretty greedy right about now, because we want more street style photos. A whole weekend is far too long to wait.

Toronto Fashion Week Spring 2013: Chloé Comme Parris dive deep into California culture | Hollywood yohana

Chloé Comme Parris Spring 2013

The twisted sisters behind favourite Toronto-label Chloé Comme Parris were back with a decidedly sunny disposition for Spring 2013, deep diving into California culture last night with their latest show at Toronto Fashion Week. Chloé and Parris Gordon prove their envious skills season after season (need an age refresher? They’re just 24 and 22 respectively), and this time around it was no different.
Opening with the CCP take on the three-piece suit (think neutral-on-neutral and a button-up to boot), the 23-look collection flowed from one to the next with soft shades, airy layers and floral watercolour prints. The duo’s signature double-layer effect was as well done on a navy shirtdress as it was a short pair of slit leather shorts. The piece de resistance, however, was a pale pink motorcycle jacket that featured a thin elastic strap through the back. (Maybe you’d never actually tie a motorcycle jacket up, but hey, it sure looks modern).

As for those West Coast waves? Present not only in the models’ side swept hairdos and the soundtrack (The Drums’ “Let’s go Surfing” was one of the tracks featured), California’s easy breeziness crept into the collection through overall effortlessness that is distinctive the Chloé Comme Parris woman. I’ve said these ladies were well on their way time and time again. Saying it one more time couldn’t hurt, right?
