The scoop and the best street style snaps from Edmonton’s 4th annual Al Fresco Block Party | Hollywood yohana

Super Saturday hit downtown Edmonton last weekend with the rainbow-coloured floats at the Gay Pride Parade, TEDx Edmonton talks at the Citadel Theatre, and food truck fare at What the Truck? on 104th Street. For a chockablock day—or, for as long as the rain would hold off, at least—the city came alive.
The most fashionable event, however, was the 4th Annual Al Fresco Block Party, which took place in the old warehouse district on the 4th Street Promenade, one of the most hip, happening, up-and-coming strips in the city.

Before the evening downpour washed us away (last year’s warm, summer soirĂ©e had us dancing in the streets until the early morning hours), Edmonton’s most stylish crowd came out for beer and wine tastings, a local designer fashion show, graffiti street art, DJs and stage performers (featuring local gem Mitchmatic and long hours on the extended street patios.
Some of our favourite stores, like Coup {Garment Boutique}, poured champagne, and eyewear shop Eyecare Group hired go-go girls for its display windows and hosted designer trunk shows for Tom Ford and DSquared.
But not all was in vain. Al Fresco is a grassroots fundraiser too, and this year, it set out to raise $15,000 for the Zebra Child Protection Centre.
A good cause brings good clothes. Our Edmo-street style photographer for the day, Harvey Miedreich, captured some standout looks amidst all the action. From brightly coloured pants to copious amounts of denim, summer fashion is in high season.
