Haute Holidays! Jennifer Lopez's Stylist Dishes On Fab Partywear | yohana
Now that Thanksgiving is over, it's time to focus all our energies toward the fun part of the holidays: getting all gussied up for those Christmas and New Year's parties!
But what's a girl to wear? For that, we picked the brain of one-half of the duo that dresses the impeccable Jennifer Lopez at an event for Gillette Venus, which, as we all know, helps the fashion icon reveal her inner goddess.
Here's what stylist Mariel Haenn (her partner Rob Zangardi had to fly out to Puerto Rico last minute to be with J.Lo, natch!) said is hot for the winter season:
ALL THAT GLITTERS IS GOLD!: Sequins and metallics are ba-a-ack. "Anything that looks just a little bit more special and festive is key," affirmed Haenn. If you don't want to buy a new dress, Haenn suggests addingjewelry or glitter heels to reinvent one you already own. "Even if you had a simple LBD , you can pair it with gold or sparkly shoes and red lipstick for a nice touch."
SEXY SLITS: Remember the leggy Atelier Versace nude dress that J.Lo rocked at the Glamour Women of the Year Awards? If it looked like it was made for the diva, it's 'cause it was! Haenn added that thigh-high slit in herself.
Daring slits are a big trend on the red carpet right now. But since gowns aren't practical for the everyday girl, put your DIY skills to the test and cut a high slit into your maxiskirt. "I put my own slit in one, and I wore it with abodysuit , so even though it was revealing, I was still covered," shared Haenn. We like the idea of pairing a black velvet maxi with a fabulous red off-the-shoulder long-sleeve, like the wayVictoria's Secret styled theirs, for a holiday soiree. "If I love something, and I know it can be better, I'll get in there," Haenn explained. "But women can also have it done at the dry cleaners. I might pay more for the alterations than the actual piece, but it's worth it! The same thing goes for denim. I believe that making a little change sometimes means everything."
