The skinny on Narciso Rodriguez’s new role for Banana Republic | Hollywood yohana

After spending the summer wrapping up a line for Kohl’s, relaunching his shoe line and sitting at the helm of his own fashion label, you’d think Narciso Rodriguez would want to take a little breather for a day or two. Instead, Banana Republic has just announced that the busy-bee designer will be starting a specially created advisory role with the retailer this Monday. The new position will have Rodriguez collaborating with Banana Republic creative director and executive VP of design Simon Kneen.

“At Banana Republic, we are committed to delivering modern, stylish work wear to our customers,” said Jack Calhoun, the president of Banana Republic, in a statement. “Narciso’s expertise will be a great complement to Simon’s strengths and to our incredible design team.”
Rodriguez’s devotion to clean, polished silhouettes with an edge will not only seamlessly work into Banana Republic’s aesthetic, but it will undoubtedly give the retailer a dose of high-fashion as well. Kneen has been steadily leading the brand into more style-oriented territory since he started with the retailer in 2008, so the partnership with Rodriguez seems like a natural progression for the direction the brand’s headed in already. Look for Rodriguez’s influence in the retailer’s fall 2013 collection, which will be the first set of designs he’ll help oversee!
