Awesomely Wacky Product: Wristbands Made Out of Braces! | yohana

Braced-Lets
In the late '80s to early '90s, kids were all about the Slap Bracelet (ah, the good old days!). Since then, people young and old have latched onto reincarnations of the "happening" wristband. In early 2000s, theLivestrong (and other silcone gels like it) was everywhere. Last year, the SillyBand collecting-and-trading frenzy took over. Now, in the newest wave of cool arm candy, we bring you the Braced-let, which is made out of braces!
As expected, it was the brainchild of two orthodontists, Dr. Marc Lemchen and Dr. Jennifer Salzer. "We thought it was great how the kids were so into picking the colors for their braces," said Dr. Salzer. "It was almost like they could design their smile. It's always such a big deal."
So, they took the wire out of the equation after advice from Dr. Salzer's jewelry designer sis, et voilĂ ! A wacky product that's loved by Selena Gomez and Katy Perry.
In fact, fans are all over the map—literally. You can find Braced-lets at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Fla., and Colette in Paris. "We really just made it for our patients. We did not know it was going to be a hit!" Dr. Salzer, said of her creations that are made entirely from orthdontic materials and have the perfect amount of stretchy.
We think they're pretty cool because they remind us of our youth, and they can be customized by combining different hues. Think your alma mater, teams, holidays, favorite colors—the possiblities are endless!
