Ellie Goulding told fans she'd tied the knot at the weekend.
The singer made the joke by sharing a snap of herself walking down a candlelit staircase in a Great Gatsby-inspired white dress.
'Just married LOLZ,' she captioned the Instagram image on Saturday.
Ellie can be seen cuddling up to a smart man in a suit while clutching a glass of something fizzy in another photograph.
The 27-year-old fooled a number of followers with her prank but was quick to clear up any confusion and set the record straight.
'Obviously I am not in fact married,' she Tweeted moments later.
