Celebs Have Their Heads in the Clouds with Sky-Inspired Designs | Hollywood yohana
Everyone wants to go back to feeling like a little kid again, and celebs seem to be channeling that through their wardrobe. Two celeb tastemakers, Michelle Williams and Leighton Meester, have sported whimsical meets chic ensembles recently, and we couldn't help but wonder if it was the start of a new trend. Cloud-inspired designs are a fun way to pay homage to more youthful, more frolicky times, but are hard to pull off without looking like you should be sitting on a shelf in an All-American Girl shop.
Michelle sported a cloudy look most recently when she arrived at the Beverly Hilton hotel yesterday for the Academy Awards Nominations Luncheon. Her collared sleeveless dress was from Victoria Beckham's Spring 2012 collection and had puffy clouds running up the bodice with sequin rain drops. Though she get originality points, this dress was not made for her. The frumpy fit of the dress combined with her pixie cut and petite frame make her literally look like a doll. And not in a flattering way.
Flash backwards to September and we saw Gossip Girl Leighton Meester in a cloud-print maxi dress by Carven when she attended a Fashion's Night Out event in New York City. Her frock was a fun azure color that gave her a summery radiance without too much effort. Here, the loose fit of the gown, her messy tresses and light Tiffany & Co. jewelry gave her a heavenly ethereal appearance.
Lesson to learn here: if you want to rock cloud patterns, it's best to go for a natural and fresh boho look like Leighton and avoid over-primping like Michelle.
