alice + olivia Sets the Bar for Goth Glam | Hollywood yohana
Don't throw out the dark lipsticks and black eyeshadows from your emo high school days just yet! The whole goth glam look came back with a vengeance for New York Fashion Week this year, with different shows giving the trend its own little twist. Wine-colored lips and kohl-rimmed eyes were everywhere on the runways, and we couldn't get enough of how goth makeup adds a dramatic femme fatale vibe to an ensemble.
Our favorite interpretation of the trend came from girly-girl designer Alice+Olivia. All of her models were dressed in ultra-feminine, 60s schoolgirl garb that was glaringly contrasted with dark, haunting makeup. The overall collection had a Lolita-esque feel, and we were blown away by the reimagined take on a classic look.
Designers Badgley Mischka and Christian Siriano also used very dark lips and eyes on their models, which gave their collections a rather vampy edge. At Badgley, their MAC team used matte maroon lipstick on the models and subtle dark liner along the top eyelid. Christian had a similar aesthetic when he used black lip pencil and black gloss on his runway.
